When I received my baggage which I had at the airport and went out of the gate,
is smelled of a different atmosphere from of Japan or America.
With the dry air,
I felt that I had arrived in some far off land.

It is the capital city of Mexico ,Latin America.
Ia a metropolis of some nine million citizens, I shared rides with my fellow passengers of many human races. By being suddenly thrown into a city that I did not know,
I felt uneasy and thought Ishould not say anything unnecessary or useless, and I took a deep breath.

The only thing that I could do was to use my legs diligently.
I targeted one street and found my own landmark and space for relaxation.
I was hopeless at the language here.
I repeated failures, embarrassed myself and sweated a river.
I tried to do something about it and assumed a defiant attitude...

Even if I lost my way while I was walking, nobody would listen to me or give me an answer.
While stepping around on foot, I come into contact with smells, light, wind sounds and people.
I could not let go of the wave after wave of such sensations. It was overwhelming.

It has been more than a half year since then.
On the news last night, I saw many images of collapsed buildings and gas explosions
as a result of the lage magnitude earthquake in Mexico City.
I heard that, by a curious coincidence, exactly thirty two years ago, an even more damaging eathquake had occurred. Is everyone there all right?
I visited Mexico City in February this year. But now I feel as if I had only visited there yestreday.
